TOOL finally put out there out their 5th full-lengh album, nearly five years after their last album Lateralus. I have to say, I haven’t been this excited about a release in a long time. TOOL is a band like no other for me. The way all four members sync together in rhythm is beyond words alone; or any that I would be able to come up with.
10,000 Days is a lot different from their past work and the only way I can describe it is as a modern day Pink Floyd. The album is more of a jam session, or at least half of it is. Adam and Justin’s playing just sinks straight into my head that I sometimes find myself drifting off to a small head trip. And of course no one can compare to Danny’s drums. The beats seem almost impossible and makes me wonder how can a person keep a rhythm like that.
My favorite song has to be “The Pot”. Maynard starts the song off in way I’ve never heard him before; I just can’t stop listening to this song. That guy can sing just about anything. He brings out individual syllables in words that no one else can seem to do. This new album rocks, but I do wish MJK did sing a bit more.
